The Old-Timer's Guide to Maine Island Folklore is a book about legends surrounding islands in Maine. There's a lengthy section on the griffins said to live around Griffin Rock.

Cody Burns consulted the book when going for his Lad Pioneer folklore badge, leading him to hike up Mount Griffin. He later took the book with him to Wayward Island, as he and the Rescue Bots went to see if there really were any griffins there.
